November / December Trestleboard

Brothers,
I would like to welcome all of the new members that have joined us in Washington Lodge, and congratulate our two latest Master Masons Roger and Shawn. As our year quickly comes to an end we have just a couple more meetings left, during which we need to accomplish several more degrees and elect a new corps of officers for the upcoming year. Our meetings each month are on the first and third Thursday at 7:00 pm with dinner and fellowship prior to the meeting at 6:00 pm at which everyone is welcome including spouses.

Upcoming Meetings:
Thur., November 1st – Election of Officers and a special presentation “Have Artifact Will Travel” promoting and explaining the N.E.W. Masonic Library and Museum.
Thur., November 15th – Fellowcraft Degrees
Thur., December 6th – Master Mason Degrees last meeting of the 2012 Masonic year

Once again thank you and congratulations to each of the brethren that have served with me this year, and I look forward to sitting on the sidelines next year for the first time in a long time. It has been a year filled with growth and learning for all of us, and it makes me very proud to be a part of such a wonderful Lodge, as noted in the Masonic Journal we should be especially proud of our commitment to the ritual as shown by our participation in the degree competition each year.

I would like to give a special thanks to the members of all of the other Lodges in the area that have stopped in to visit us and or participate in our work in this wonderful gentle craft we call Freemasonry. I am grateful to be able to travel and always be in the company of brothers and fellows that have traveled the same path as I have, and to follow in the footsteps of some of the greatest men in history.

So may we ever meet, act, and part my brothers, and remember to always support our youth as they are our future and our support of them will in turn be rewarded by their support of us. Rainbow, DeMolay, and Jobies are our charges, support them in any way available to you.

Fraternally,
Joseph Chilcote WM, Washington Lodge, F&AM

Commeraderie and the Craft

Washington Lodge stated communication turned into an exercise in the tenants of friendship and brotherly love, as always we started out with our dinner at 6:00pm but with a twist. Our York Rite brethren brought an old favorite out for the enjoyment of everyone, we had oyster stew and a friendship degree called the Knife and Fork degree, which is all about fun and friendship. The members of the lodge engaged in lively conversation and fantastic food, we wish you could have joined us for the festivities. This was followed up by an impressive EA degree for Shawn Niemann, where we welcomed a new member to our lodge, along with the plural affiliation of Elliot Collier, a brother from another mother. Come out and join us for a night that is more than just listening to minutes and treasures' reports, so step back out of your comfort zone and back into the friendly confines of Washington Lodge, we've been here for 147 years; come and find out why.

From the Master

Greetings:
We find ourselves at the beginning of a new year, full of hope and optimism
for the possibilities that are soon to present themselves to our new corps
of officers.
As the new Master of Washington Lodge I would like to congratulate the
new officers of our lodge as well as those of Des Pere, Daylight, and
Roosevelt lodge. I would also like to thank the members of our three youth
groups, DeMolay, Rainbow for Girls, and Job’s Daughters who all helped
make our installation a wonderful experience!
I would especially like to urge each adult that is reading this message to
take some of your time this year and devote it our most precious resource
and our “best” hope for the future - our youth! Please take the time to visit
them, they enjoy guests as much as we do!
As we start this year we encourage each of our members to attend regularly.
We are looking forward to bringing in more new members, and
embarking on several exciting projects. We want each of you to be a part
of this and enjoy the comradery and sense of fulfillment that comes from
participating in worthy endeavours.
As always dinner is at 6:00 pm before lodge so all members can join us for
fellowship, regardless of your current degree. Friendship is the true cement
that holds a lodge together, gives it strength, and helps it grow!
Fraternally,
Joseph Chilcote
